In 2011, Gateshead Council and South Tyneside Council Music Services joined together to form Gateshead and South Tyneside Music Hub, to deliver on the National Plan for Music Education.

Quite simply, we want to make music learning great for children and young people across Gateshead and South Tyneside. Working with our partner organisations; Sage Gateshead, Gem Arts, The Customs House, Side by Side Arts, Gateshead College, the Academy of Music and Sound and most importantly the schools in our areas, we are a music hub, that through joined up thinking and delivery want all children and young people in our area to have the chance to make, play, perform and listen to as much music as possible, whilst also having a class time.
