Funding Music in Schools

Here are a list of grants and fundraising ideas that schools can use to support music provision in your school.

The Community Foundation manage lots of grants available to charities, community organisations and individuals. They have manage a specific grant for schools: ‘Supporting quality arts provision for young people across the North East in school and youth settings’.

Tesco Stronger Start is a grant scheme aimed at community organisations and good causes across the UK. It is open to all schools, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations, with priority given to projects that provide food and support to young people. School’s in Gateshead have been successful in funding afterschool music groups.

The Universal Music UK Sound Foundation (which used to be known as the EMI Music Sound Foundation) is an independent music education charity, established in 1997. It supports music-making activities for young people and schools.
